    A safari, also known as as a “game drive,” is an amazing opportunity to see Big 5 species and more different animals up close, not in a zoo, but in their natural habitat!
    Akagera is one of central Africa’s last-remaining refuges for endemic savannah wildlife in Rwanda and the largest protected wetland in the region. Big 5 are one of the biggest attractions in Akagera whereby travelers get to see the Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, and Rhinos. The forest fringed lakes, papyrus swamps, savannah plains and rolling highlands combine to make Akagera amongst the most scenic of reserves anywhere in Africa. It has exceptional levels of biodiversity and forms the largest protected wetland in central Africa.

    Tracking gorillas in Rwanda is safe and relatively accessible. At the latest count, there are approximately 1,000 mountain gorillas in the wild. Gorilla tracking is The unique opportunity to see gorillas in their natural habitat is unforgettable, some even say life changing. Encounters with gorillas as they go about their daily lives are carefully managed, with expert trackers and guides leading small groups of tourists up bamboo-covered slopes to spend a precious and awe-inspiring hour just a few feet away from the gentle creatures.

10:00 am- 1:00 pm pick up from hotel and leaving Kigali towards Akagera National Park for an estimated 2.5- 3 hours drive with local experts and friendly driver guide, the transport is assured with a choice 4×4 safari vehicle with wifi connectivity to keep you connected with your lovely ones and the world.

Mid-way: stop-over by Imigongo Art Coffee Shop for leg stretching, using the washrooms, having some coffe, and exploring the difference art objects in their exhibition hall.

3:30 pm -4:30 pm boat trip safari on lake Ihema,

5:30 pm- 8:00 pm Spend the evening in the night game drive.

This will give you the chance to observe a number of rewarding attractions especially the carnivores hunting as other animals hide for overnight stay. By the use of the night spot lights, you will have clear views of the animal species and also get to see and listen the different night bird species like the night jars among other rewarding species in the park to make your safari experience quite memorable.

8:00 PM End of the night game drive and back to Hotel (Midrange/Luxury) , have some dinner and stay overnight at the hotel

After breakfast, early morning you’ll be picked up from Hotel by Afri Safaris guide and start full day safari game drive for an estimated 6 hours game drive .with local experts and friendly driver guide, the transport is assured with a choice 4×4 safari vehicle.

3:00 pm end of the safari & back to Hotel

9:00 am pick up from Hotel and leaving Akagera National Park towards Musanze City for an estimated 5 hours drive with local experts and friendly driver guide, the city is a convenient base for gorilla tracking and the transport is assured with a choice 4×4 safari vehicle with wifi connectivity to keep you connected with your lovely ones and the world.

6:15 am early morning leaving Hotel (Midrange/ Luxury) towards RDB headquarter in Kinigi,

7:00 am Having some coffee and meet up with the Park officials and get briefed. This briefing is very important and is where you will meet other tourists and Rangers who will be leading you to the forest. The briefing covers many topics but the most important is how to behave around the gorillas, what to expect and what to carry along while tracking the gorillas. You will be assigned a gorilla family taking into consideration your overall fitness and age. This is because some of the gorilla groups are located deeper in the forest hence requiring more hours of trekking. Porters are available to help you with extra luggage.

– 8:00 am Ready for Gorilla trekking

The Park Rangers will lead you into the forest to track the primates. Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park takes between 2 to 6 hours.


– 8:00 am – 11:00 am Gorilla trekking

Once you spot them, take as many photos as you can because you will be with them for only one hour. Observing mountain gorillas can be amazing. You can see them groom, play, eat or take a nap. Some may come close to you out of curiosity but remember to always remain calm as you follow instructions from the park Guides. After an hour of observing the mountain gorillas,

you will return back to the starting point where our Guide will be waiting for you.

Lunch will be in Musanze city

 

2:00 – 3:00 pm visit the Ellen DeGeneres campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla fund.

The multi-acre, eco-friendly facility adjacent to the Volcanoes National Park includes three main buildings – the Sandy and Harold Price Research Center, the Rob and Melani Walton Education Center and the Cindy Broder Conservation Gallery – as well as housing for visiting students and researchers. The Ellen Campus is designed to serve as a gateway to conservation for the many stakeholders with whom we work as well as visitors from around the world, helping to create the next generation of conservationists.
