Akagera National Park is one of central Africa’s last-remaining refuges for endemic savannah wildlife in Rwanda and the largest protected wetland in the region, occupying 1122 km2 of land area. Established in 1934, Big 5 Species are one of the biggest attractions in Akagera National Park whereby travellers get to see the Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopards, and Rhinos.
The forest in Akgera is a combination of fringed lakes, papyrus swamps, savannah plains and rolling highlands which make the park amongst the most scenic of reserves anywhere in Africa. It has exceptional levels of biodiversity and forms the largest protected wetland in central Africa.
Akagera is the home of great variety of wildlife mammals which includes, elephants, buffalos, giraffe, zebras, leopards, hyenas, lions. Several antelopes including bushbucks, Topis, Oribis, water-buck, roan antelope and duiker, klipspringer, impala and the Cape eland. In addition, you will be able to see olive baboons and vervet monkeys in the park. Akagera National Park is not only home of the big five African games, it has also a major habitat to over 550 unique bird species.

ITINERARY DETAIL:

- 5:00 am pickup at Hotel (Kigali) towards Akagera National park for an estimate drive of 2.5 – 3 hours

Mid-way: stop-over by Imigongo Art Coffee Shop for leg stretching, using the washrooms, having some coffe, and exploring the difference art objects in their exhibition hall.

-8:00 am Clearing at the park entry & Reception

– 9:00 am Boat trip scheduled morning

– 10:40 am Game drive

– 12:00 pm – 1:00 Pm Lunch (Hot Lunch or Parked Lunch) at Picnic Area

– 1:00 Pm – 4:00 Pm Full day game drive
4:00 Pm end of the day trip and one way back to Kigali (Hotel)
